Years later, those paths would cross while working at Norfolk State University.
Their shared heritage and journey sparked a conversation; their shared passion for entrepreneurship and family values bonded them.
The pair joined forces and spent the next decade working their day jobs as an auditor and finance professor, respectively, and saving every penny.
By 1983, they bought their first hotel: a Quality Inn in Portsmouth, Virginia.
